Animals make no real attempt to escape capture, however they retain the tail curl reflex.
Handleable
In the initial phase, animals do not avoid capture and the tail curl reflex is minimal. In the final phase animals do not avoid capture, the tail reflex is absent, walking motion may be observed but there is no reaction to being handled or removed from the water.
Deep Anaesthesia
Animals do not avoid capture, walking motion has ceased and gill movement is the only apparent physical response visible.
